OpenOffice 2.0 - free opensource alternative to Microsoft Office
Feb 21st, 2008 by Nim
If you’ve ever balked at the whopping $400.00 price tag for a retail version of Microsoft Office, then OpenOffice may be for you. OpenOffice is a pure open-source project with its roots in the Linux world of computing. OpenOffice offers an excellent suite of software to rival the holy grail of MS Word, Excel, and Powerpoint that’s been dominating productivity software for Windows computers. I have used OpenOffice on my notebook computers and find it often runs faster and is less buggy than it’s outrageously priced and very bloated competitor. What about a replacement for Outlook you ask? See future posts for a dixlinx to the open-source mail client, Thunderbird.
